Horrible business. 5 years ago my wife and I were on the way to North Carolina and got stranded in Ocala due to an overheating problem with our van. We saw Pal's so we stopped. After waiting about 3 hours the guy came and told us that we needed a WHOLE NEW ENGINE and that it would cost $6,500. All he showed us was some fake sympathy and a vial of dirty coolant. We didn't believe him so we went somewhere else. when we got the van looked at the only problem was the TEMPERATURE SENSOR which costed us $20 and five minutes! Nothing was wrong with our engine and it is still running today! We had to get towed back home in order to get it looked at which was 2 hours away and I missed my grandmothers funeral in NC all because Pal's wanted to cheat us out of some money. Don't waste your time. THE CAR IS STILL RUNNING AFTER 5 YEARS AND WE NEVER NEEDED A HEAD GASKET! THEY ARE LIARS. BAD BUSINESS. Replacing one head gasket like you said, would be way less than 6,500 so if we didn't have the money, why would charging us for a new engine be logical?? We never applied for any benefits while there either smh. Dude is a liar!!! If we agreed the car was "broken" why is it still running after 5 YEARS without ever replacing what you "allegedly" said needed replacing?? I thought we agreed it was "BROKEN"?? If I could put zero stars I would! Stay away from this place!
Hi Jordan, Pals is under new ownership since December of 2024. If you have a recent concern, we would be happy to look into it. We are sorry the entire family is upset with us. You were going to North Carolina when your vehicle overheated. You had the vehicle towed to us. When you arrived, we explained that we needed to do a diagnostic procedure and informed you that the cost was $149.99 plus tax and supply fee which totals $173.33. We also informed you that the diagnostic fee would be waived if you let us repair the vehicle. We performed a block test and the test revealed that the block and heads were compromised. The vehicle required a minimum of one head gasket, and because the cost of a used replacement engine was just a little more money, we recommended the replacement engine because you never know if the vehicle will need more than the head gasket. Hanna agreed that the vehicle was broken. That is why she had it towed into the shop. She did not have the money to repair the vehicle, so she applied for Synchrony Finance and was turned down. Then she applied for Snap Finance and was turned down. She then decided to pay for the diagnostic and continue to drive the vehicle, knowing that it was overheating and that it would probably fail on the road. The comment about the dirty coolant is the result of our block test. The coolant turned from green to blue, indicating a compromised head or head gasket. Obviously you were upset that Hanna was not approved for financing to repair the vehicle. We do not know how the vehicle made it to the destination without repair, but we wish you all well.
