Weird that the owners are very openly Christian but still tried to scam me into paying almost $400 for a new battery that I didn't need when my alternator went bad after evacuating for a hurricane. Very dishonest.
Alexandria, we're sorry that Pals Ocala didn't meet your needs... but we do need to address some of the inaccuracies in the 1-star review you gave us. We were contracted to find out what was wrong with your car. We assessed two parts that needed replacement: your car's battery and alternator. Had you chosen no work to be done, we would have charged you nothing more than the $150 diagnostic fee. We gave you a price of $260 for the battery and $470 for the alternator. Your father indicated he could replace the battery, so we did the Alternator and waived the diagnostic fee. Now, if you had chosen to have us do the battery and not the alternator, you would have still paid only $260-- we would have waived the diagnostic then, too. In either case, we accorded you a $150 service as a thank you for letting us do some of the work. These are our everyday prices for work we provide a guarantee for. As you pointed out, we are Christians running a business that Ocalans rely on, and we always do that ethically, with high standards. We never raise prices in times of crisis. We did not unfairly gouge your pocketbook. Our work is highly rated within Ocala, because we're thorough and great at repairs. We don't offer cheap prices, we offer fair prices, consistent with the Ocala auto repair market. We understand that a hurricane can put enormous financial pressure on someone trying to flee north, and we can always work out financing with someone in need. But we are a business, serving our customers as best we can, and expecting our prices to lower in a crisis is just as cynical as it would be if we raised them; our team also went through that same crisis, and deserved their due income. If the experience has soured you to Pals Ocala and we've lost you as a customer, we're very sorry to see you go, but we hope that in a less worrying moment, you'll consider how unfair this review was to a business that wanted to do right by you and your vehicle-- the right parts, the right service, and the right guarantee.
